Aunt Mary’s Primer, Adorned with 120 Pretty Pictures (PDF ebook) – This early childhood reading primer, published in 1851, introduces youngest students to the ABCs and simple words, then goes on to offer a “First Lesson on the Senses,” “First Lesson in Writing”, “A First Lesson in Numbers”, a sweet poem about mothers, and then dozens of old-time illustrations of objects for the child to identify. A very nice example of an early American reading primer, with some good usable material even for today. Take a look!
