I tried the link and it just told me that I needed to download Acrobat 9…which I already have…I downloaded it just in case and it still will not let me access the book.
    Thank you
    Carol Jo

  2. Debbie says:

The Chinese wonder book will not download for me. I tried twice and all I get is something that looks like a template. Any suggestions? Thank you!

  3. JimE says:

Since this resource is hosted by the publisher, I’ve put in an email to them to check out the Acrobat 9 issue. I know a few folks have had a problem with that. Please check their download page later today for any updates or suggestions.

Sorry for the hopefully temporary glitch!

  4. Velma says:

I figured it out. If you download Acrobat 9 and then download from the link, you will open a page with several pdf files shown. Right click on a file and choose to either open or save the file separately. Then you will view the file just fine. There are several files combined in this download. Once you figure out how to use it, it is a neat way to download several pdf files at once.

  5. Mia King says:

Velma, thank you — I tried to open the file several times and it just said it was corrupted and shut down on me — it didn’t say I needed to use Acrobat 9. Am off to download it now.

  6. Nicole says:

I have a Mac, so I can’t use Acrobat for PDFs. I use PREVIEW — I hope I can still download it though.

  7. Mia King says:

Nope, I downloaded it but I’m still getting a message that the file is corrupted and won’t even open. :-(

  8. Mia King says:

OK, my oops – I just cleared my cache and it’s working now – it requires Acrobat 9 for security reasons, so if you don’t have Acrobat 9, you won’t be able to do the download.

Lovely resource, thank you Jim and BIP!

  9. Jacob says:

If you are using a PC or Mac, you need to have Adobe Reader 9 AND Adobe Air, both free. You do not need Adobe Acrobat, which is an expensive program. An older version of the Adobe Reader, or another program like Apple Preview, will not work. The PDF has special menus and functions that cannot be displayed.

Here are the official Adobe links for both programs:

    Adobe Air
    http://get.adobe.com/air/

    Adobe Reader 9
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

Both programs will take some time to download and install so be patient. The book is worth it; it is beautiful. Also, both programs will be valuable in the future. Hope this helps!

Our apologies to those of you who had problems getting this resource (which is now closed). When we offer resources provided by the publishers (as opposed to our hosting them), the technical support for that day’s item is out of our hands. Sometimes everything works just fine, but other times there is a problem due to their setup.

It’s a mixed blessing. We want to be able to bring you a wide variety of exclusive freebies, but on the other hand not everything is going to be compatible with everyone’s system. We’ll continue to bring you future “publisher sponsored” resources from time to time, but will also try to minimize any potential problems with them. Again, our apologies to those of you who had problems with this one. Lesson learned.

  11. Lynne says:

Sorry to say that I didn’t figure out the technical difficulties in time to download the resource. I’m really bummed, but am looking forward to more excellent resources EVERY DAY! :-)

  12. Wendy says:

I tried to download the Chinese wonder book and had trouble as well. I did out Adobe 9 on my computer but didn’t know about the other one in time. Since there were problems, can it be put up again soon…….we are studying Ancient China and would love to have it!

  13. Anonymous says:

I am so disappointed to have missed yesterday’s resource as we are doing Ancient China in History. Silly me! I hope it comes round again!

  14. Sarah says:

I am disappointed, too, to have missed the Chinese Wonder Book.
My excuse? It was put up the day before I got my computer running again after having to reformat the hard drive due to virus issues. (Fortunately all my other Freebie of the Day downloads were backed up elsewhere!)
Please be merciful and offer it again soon!

  15. JimE says:

Folks, we do occasionally re-run some of the resources that WE put together and host ourselves, but resources that are sponsored by another publisher (such as this one) are out of our hands once their day is past. We no longer have access to them and cannot re-run them on our site. Such is the case with this particular resource. I’d just suggest you check it out on the publisher’s website (address is in the post) and consider purchasing it. Sorry, but that’s the only suggestion I can offer for this.

    Thanks,
    Jim E

  16. Kerri says:

You can still get resource by downloading the SAMPLE on the Illuminations 1:
Creation to the Resurrection page. Here’s the address –

    http://www.brightideaspress.com/ILLUM1.htm

Scroll down to the word SAMPLE just above the Previews & FAQ’s box. Left click and save. You will need Adobe Reader 9 to view it. I downloaded & installed Adobe Air since Jim said I needed it, but I have to be honest I have no idea what it does. Maybe Jim can clear that up for us. LOL

Here’s the links from Jim’s post above.

Here are the official Adobe links for both programs:

    Adobe Air
    http://get.adobe.com/air/

    Adobe Reader 9
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

Hope this helps! Have a Blessed Day!
