Jan 5: Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “The Long Winter” Audio + more!

on January 5, 2010

The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder (MP3 audio) – Today’s resource is this fine interpretation of one of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s best “Little House” books, “The Long Winter”. This Ingalls family is quite different than the one you saw on TV, but it is a very faithful adaptation of the book, and is quite entertaining. It is the ONLY “old time radio” adaptation of any of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books, and if you love those stories, you’ll treasure this. This “Living Book for the Ears” audio comes to us courtesy of our sister site, HomeschoolRadioShows.com, and was originally aired way back in 1950 on the radio version of the Hallmark Playhouse.

Bonus: You’ll also find two more wonderful audio stories on the download page for you! Make up some hot cocoa, curl up on the couch with your kids, and enjoy these wintertime audio treats!

Thanks for this timely audio selection. We are having lovely wet snowflakes all morning — like goosedown feathers! This will help us stay cozy.

The Cinnamon Bear was great – the boys coloured in the pictures and made a book for next year.
