July 28: Gabriel and the Hour Book

on July 28, 2009

Gabriel and the Hour Book, by Evaleen Stein (PDF ebook) – Today’s resource is this wonderful character-building story set in 15th century France – before the invention of the printing press – about a young peasant boy named Gabriel, who becomes an apprentice to a monk who creates illuminated texts. You may not have heard of this book before, but give it a try. It is a true delight, a well written “living history” book for all ages that will be a favorite to many young listeners and readers. Highly recommended!

Thank you for posting this ebook! This will go perfectly with “The Story of Printing” that I purchased from your site. We plan on begining our study this week and take a field trip to see the Gutenberg press in Mainz Germany. (we live about an hour away from Mainz)
Thank you for this wonderful study!!
