March 19: The First Spelling Book

Note: Links have been updated and should work now. Sorry for the inconvenience!

THE FIRST SPELLING BOOK (PDF ebook) – Today’s resource is this wonderful spelling lesson book, originally published for primary grade students in the Philipines. As such, it has a fascinating agricultural / Philipino slant with delightful illustrations, so there is some cultural learning going on along with the spelling lessons. Each of the lessons in this book has instructions for the teacher at the bottom of each page to help you in presenting the lesson. Lessons are meant for the second through fourth grades, and there is lots of variety in the presentations. Lots of fun, one of our favorite vintage spellers ever. Enjoy!

when i opened the .pdf, there was the cover page, a page about it being digitally scanned and then every page thereafter was blank. Anyone else have this problem and is there a fix?

  7. JimE says:

    Beth,

You need to adjust your PDF reader settings. See the “Problems?” tab at the top of the page for tips on fixing this.

    I am having trouble again!
When I click to “save as” my computer saves that page instead of the material you’ve offered. It’s called 19th I open it and it shows the freebie page displaying picture of what you’ve offered.
Help I’m really interested in the reader!!

  9. JimE says:

Anne, just click the link to the download page as you would normally do when following a link. You will then be taken to the download page. Once there, RIGHT click on the actual download link on that page to save the ebook. Got it?
