Pen Pals as a Hobby by Bonnie Jennings (PDF ebook) – Today’s resource is this very interesting new ebook written by a lady who once had 160 pen pals at the same time! Learn the ins and outs of “pen palling”, how to find pen pals, write interesting letters, stay organized, and much more. This newly released ebook sells elsewhere for $14.95, but is yours free today.
Note: This is an excellent ebook, but be aware that it was written for a general audience, and not specifically for homeschooled students. Therefore, there is little mention of parental supervision of correspondence or of any safety concerns. We think that a little common sense and parental involvement in this hobby would be sufficient in most cases, and most of this could be directed toward other homeschooled pen pals. Still, be aware that the “safety” aspect of this hobby is NOT covered in this ebook. If anyone knows of any links to resources specific to homeschooled kids and pen pals that would be helpful, please post them in the comments. Thanks!

Hi,
I have posted our information on this website http://www.theteacherscorner.net/penpals/index.php and have gotten 4 homeschool penpals so far.
It has the option of school or homeschool.
Hope that helps,
Synamon
I would recommend getting a PO box. Also, there are a lot of great ministry opportunities for the family when pen-palling. http://www.sabbathkeepersfellowship.org/penpal.html is one such program.
Thank you for the book. I too would love to find places for children to find pen pals, specifically, Christian and ideally, homeschooled. Most ministries do not want to get involved, because of the risks. I did get one suggestions of finding a missionary to pen pal with, but we dont have any connections with missionary children.
I belong to a social network called “The Homeschool Lounge” The address is: thehomeschoollounge.com. There is a group called “Letter Writing Friends” (of which I am a member). Once you meet the ladies in the group you could find pen pals for you and your children. It’s a wonderful resource for homeschoolers.
Hi!
I would like to add my thank you for your great freebies!
Michele, I would like my 11-yo daughter to start writing to a penpal. I myself am a missionary in Asia, but my husband is “local”. We homeschool at a missionary kids co-op. Perhaps our kids could become pals? You didn’t write anything about their ages (I also have a 9-yo son, but he’s not into writing much yet).
It is a very sweet thing to keep in contact with our missionairies AND to support and encourage
today’s martyrs; http://www.persecution.com and http://www.christianaid.org/Missionaries/ByRegion/China/Default.aspx (something for the adults so they can write brothers and sisters around the globe being tortured for Christ – truly denying themselves, taking up their cross and following Him. Jesus first.
Write your missionairies – even if they do not home educate because some may not be able to do this because it is against the law. Germany, for example.
