Here’s a great collection of entries from ChristianFilmmakers.org’s 36 Hour Competition, which was held April 10th and 11th. Each filmmaker had 36 hours to produce a 3 minute film, which had to include some specific elements (dialogue, settings, props – for example, the $100 bill and/or the phrase “I fogive you” which you’ll find in many of these) to ensure that they actually had been created in that 36 hour period. The results were loads of fun – stories that cover a wide variety genres and subject matter, skillfully told by young filmmakers in neat little bite sized videos.
We’ve put together this page without regard to the actual winners of the competition… it is just a representative sample of videos we enjoyed. If you like these, we suggest that you seek out the other entries from the contest. They are all worth seeing.
You can see the complete collection of all 60+ entries at Christian Filmmakers.org. (A mild parental caution: If you watch the films on that page, be aware that there are a few with some PG style violence. Parents of little ones might want to preview some of the videos there before viewing.)
Finally, just a note to those of you new to online video watching: These are streaming videos, hosted on YouTube… they are not downloadable. If you are not able to play them on your computer, please refer to the FAQ page at YouTube. We aren’t able to offer technical support on these.
Post a comment if you like these or want to see more videos here from time to time. Enjoy, and have a great weekend!
My daughter and I are enjoying watching the Youtube videos.
I really enjoy these short videos. I cried while viewing “Hero”, laughed at the ninja angel in “Mysterious Ways”, smiled from ear to ear during “Mother Angel”, “Leave Me” took me down memory lane, after “Gratitude’s Attitude” I shook my head & marvel at the power of chocolate in a woman’s life.
I think I’ll go on their site and view the other videos.
Yes, it is a treat to see wholesome videos anywhere nowadays. So show more of these (or “parental aid”-type) films/representations.
There is so much talent, it’s nice to see some Christian Film Artists at work….but I wasn’t understanding some of the underlying messages with the different characters of “Just Leave Me”?!
Glad to see Hero among your favorites. That one was by friends of ours. I’m actually in the “crowd” cheering scene and my kids are soccer players. Juanita is truly an amazing woman and I am blessed to know her.
These videos are great! I’d love to see more.
“Hobo” Was my favorite. It shows the giving heart of even the homeless who have nothing! Boy after viewing that I was in a much giving spirit, really question myself about how I can help others. Do I realy need this or that when somebody is doing without! I gave up my Friday night chinese takeout and made chinese at home. This way I have more to give! Thanks so much for all of your “Freebies” ,and thanks to all of the filmakers!
We really enjoyed these videos, though we didn’t do them on the right day, we were glad they were still available. We are traveling in Africa and can’t always get to things on the right day.
It was a great homeschool lesson as we have a budding film-maker ourselves.
