Oct 19: A Visual History of the United States

on October 19, 2009

A Visual History of the United States (PDF ebook) – Excellent history of the United States beginning with the discovery of the new world and going right on through WW2 into the early 1950s. There are tons of well done, easily understood graphics in this great find, presented mainly in pictographs, maps, diagrams and cartoons, with accompanying text.

The final chapter is a bit dated with the post WW2 coverage of the UN, communism & the American Way (which somehow seems a bit disconnected to who we are today), but the majority of this book is first rate stuff, and is a unique and novel way to study many diverse aspects of American history. Highly recommended!

    Hi Jim,
I have been trying to download the visual history of the USA since Monday, and it always gets stuck, it never gets to the page.
Is it just me, or is there some problem with that page? I was expecting someone to comment on it, but I don-t see any comments on that day-s offer.
Sorry for coming up with problems. Your work of compiling these goodies, and your free offer of them, is fantastic! God bless you mightily!

    Ana,

It is a very big file (20 megs), and it sounds like your ISP is loosing or timing out your connection during the long download. You might try on a different computer.

While looking through this, I noted that pages 37, 38 are covered with a piece of paper blocking most of the pages.

Any idea what is on those pages?

Thanks so much for a great resource!
