April 8: Bird Day!

on April 8, 2010

Today, in honor of International Bird Day (April 8th), we feature  two great bird resources for you!

The First Book of Birds by Margaret Williamson (PDF ebook) -

A delightful introduction to birds of all types; how and why they can fly; where they live; what they eat; why they build nests; and much, much more. Heavily illustrated with Williamson's fine black and white line illustrations, this is a great chapter book for use with younger learners. Recommended!

The First Book of Birds is hosted on an outside site (not ours), and may be prone to occasional down time. Just try again… it seems to be working fine this morning. We'll leave the link up through the weekend, just in case.

This is a GREAT resource to go along with our spring nature study of birds! So much information and good illustrations of how an egg is developed, how bird digestion works, etc. Makes teaching easy! THANKS!

Hi, I've tried several times to get the First book of birds to open up so I could save it and I have not had any success.  I saw that it was supposed to be up through the weekend but I still have not been able to open it…..
Was hoping to do so since we are all having MOD (Molly Obessive Disorder) from watching Molly the barn owl and her owlets on UStreamlive.  I thought this resource would go great with it.  Thanks for all the resources you provide…would love to get this one.  Thanks.
