Sept 26: Everyday Life in the Colonies

on September 26, 2011

Everyday Life in the Colonies by Gertrude Stone and M. Grace Fickett (PDF ebook)

Here's a classic "living book" for young readers about what it was like to be a young person living in colonial America. Each chapter is actually a separate story, which deal with ordinary activities such as candlemaking, letter writing, schoolwork, telling time, keeping the Puritan Sabbath and Indian encounters. The first chapter is an excellent story of the Puritan celebration of the Christmas season, don't miss it.

Looks like there might be an issue with the PDF.  I get a message when opening that reads "Insufficient data to open an image."  Tried downloading twice (right click, save as) and open with Adobe Reader 9.2.0.

This looks like a nice resource.  However, there are blank pages from about page 75 to page 115.  Can this be fixed?  Thanks.

  6. JimE says:

The PDF should be fixed now… it was an upload error. Sorry about that!

Is there a way to make these iPad friendly? I purchased it for reading all the classics and PDFs sitting on the couch with the girls and “flipping” through the pages. Thank you for all the great resources, you are a blessing to the homeschool community.
