THE MARY FRANCES SEWING BOOK – Adventures Among the Thimble People by Jane Eayre Fryer (PDF ebook)

She’s BACK! This week we’re bringing back one of the most beloved & popular children’s book characters from the early 1900s — Jane Eayre Fryer’s delightfully imaginative and educational heroine, Mary Frances!

In this part “fairy tale” and part “instruction book” various sewing implements come to life for Mary Frances, and they teach her how to sew – beginning with outfitting a sewing basket, then learning 10 or so basic stitches, then progressing to a sampler, and then on to doll clothes. The wonderful illustrations sprinkled throughout the book are very reminiscent of the L. Frank Baum Oz series.

This fun book can be enjoyed just as a delightful fairy story, or you can use it as the basis of a hand-sewing curriculum. Don’t miss it!

Thank you!  We've decided that hand sewing will be a good task to work on when our new baby comes in a few months.  I've been looking for resources to help teach it.  Thank you!!!

See our "Problems?" tab at the top of the page. You likely need to adjust your PDF reader settings to view this scanned book.

Seems to be working now.  Thanks for the help, JimE.  I don't know what it was.

I am trying to open this through my PC and it is not connecting at all.  Just doing nothing and when I try to open the link in a new tab it is a blank screen.  When I right click on the link there is no option for "save to computer" just "save link as".

  7. JimE says:

Julie, "save link as" IS the same as "save to computer" (different browsers use slightly different wording on this download option). Click it and then it will download to your computer.

  8. Janelle says:

Would love to have saved it, but it wouldn't open for me.  Last week it was the Friday's special and this week it's MOndays freebie.  I'm really having trouble with your files.

  9. JimE says:

Janelle, that is a problem on your end, not ours. See our "Problems?" tab for tips on fixing bad downloads.

  10. Cherie says:

This is such a cute little book, that I had to get the others in the series. Thank you for the tip.
It saved as a coverpage with a dedication instead of the cute bookcover that you show.

Any tips for iPhone? Blank pages no matter what I try, but I’m a newbie.

I downloaded it to my laptop computer with no problems. I'm using Firefox 8.0 as my web browser, though, so try using Firefox if you are having trouble downloading from Internet Explorer.

This is book is great! I have wanted something to help me and my daughter learn the basics in sewing. I am glad that the link was still available as we have been out of pocket for awhile. Where can I find the other books as it seems there is at least one before Mary Frances Sewing Book?
