So what do you want to see…

on June 10, 2009

UPDATE! We now have our winners, chosen via a random number generator.

Congratulations to Stacy P., Helena, Layna V and the York Family! We will be contacting you via email to send you your prizes.

Thanks also to everyone for their comments and suggestions… we appreciate them all, and will be using many of these in the weeks to come! – The Erskines

(Comments on this post are still welcomed, but the contest is now closed.)

…when we get back from our “Summer Break”?

While we aren’t posting much here on the site in June, we are still busy behind the scenes (between all the picnics, fish fries, yard work & garden tour expeditions) sending out our weekly email subscriber freebies, putting the finishing touches on a couple of new collections, and putting together an awesome line up of freebies for you over the next few months!

Still, there are several spots yet to be filled, and we’d love to get YOUR input on what to feature here on our site later this Summer and into the Fall. So what kind of homeschool resources are you especially wanting to see featured on our site? What is most useful and helpful to you? What do you want to see more of? What do you want to see less of? Post a comment and let us know!

Thank you for all the outstanding work you do. I am taking a break too. I needed this time to go through and organize the information that I already have. We are looking forward to downloads and learning experiences. God Bless! :)

I would love to see more bible study resources. I just can’t seem to find anything appropriate that fits my son’s learning style. But perhaps you can find something interesting/fun to post.

I’d like to see some fun projects or informational sites/e-books, to tie in to monthly holidays.

I’d also like more world geography/culture items. Or something like Jewish holidays and how to celebrate them.

How about some “how to study” guides for students who are self-directed learners?

Oh, and I agree with others – please more high-school level content.

Thank you for your wonderful site that’s a blessing to so many!

I love your site and all of your freebies! Thank you so much! I would like to see pdfs of scheduling and planning sheets — I have spent the last month making my own and am still not happy with it — examples of what others use (especially for including unit studies) would be great!
    Thanks again!

First, I want to thank you for the great effort you put in behind-the-scenes, so that we can enjoy delightful surprises every morning. We really do appreciate all of your hard work!

Second, we would love to see more things directed towards older kids, including teenagers. We’d also like to see more items having to do with science, history and geography.

Third, we really enjoy the freebies you find that are “old fashioned” and would like to continue to see those, no matter what the subject or targeted age group.

Again, thank you for all of your hard work. I hope that you and your family are enjoying a much needed and well-deserved break.

Thanks for all you do. You give me fun ideas for those days (or weeks) when school is getting tedious.
I’d love to see something for dyslexic children. Also, my dyslexic son loves beginning readers where he can memorize all the words.
Thanks for listening to our ideas.

  6. Anna-Marie says:

    Drawings are always fun.

Miss ya’ll when you are gone. Hope you have a refreshing time away.

  7. Jenny says:

I just found your website…this is going to be our first year to homeschool…

Your site is really awesome and i look forward to seeing more of it in the coming days…

    blessings to you!

I love the old, out of print literature resources you’ve done and would love to see more of those. I would also love tips for homeschooling children with dyslexia, special learning needs, as well as ideas for teaching according to learning styles. Ideas for teaching a hands-on or kinesthetic learner! We also enjoy the audio freebies, especially related to history and special days or holidays.

Thank you for all you do. What a job it must be to gather together so many resources! We would like to see more hands-on activites such as wood patterns for the boys to build something, sewing projects for the girls, cake decorating lessons, and practical gifts that children could make. Also, we would like more lapbooking lessons. My kids aren’t interested in any of the old-old publications as there are plenty of up-to-date, more colorful and exciting resources on the same subjects. Audios are always a favorite. Keep up the good work! What a blessing you are to us!

  10. Christine says:

You guys are the best and I can’t wait to see the line-up of the week. I open my inbox excited to see “Head’s up”! :-)

Anyway, my 3rd grader and I are studying Countries and Cultures this year, so anything related to that. Also, we love good copywork and audio stories. Somehow whatever you have is just what we needed. Thanks SO MUCH!

    Enjoy your family time!

I would like to see more stuff to keep little hands busy while the older ones are working on their school work.

  12. Keila says:

We have so enjoyed all of your work!! Thanks so much! We would enjoy more history audios and “where did _____ come from” audios. The kids would also like something of practical gifts to make. Thank you again for all you do! God bless!

  13. Kerrie says:

I wiould like to see more printable craft type stuff. Stuff ffor prek-6th.

    Thanks for your hard work!

  14. Niki says:

I would like to see items about raising girls and maybe training them up. I am having a hard time finding something for training up young ladies. I just finished my first year homeschooling and its been “interesting”. I would like to find some things that go more towards “girl” or “young lady” items.

  15. Michael says:

Much of our world depends on mass communication skills: video, audio, web, and print. While personal communication skills should never be ignored, perhaps what teachers and pupils need to see is a series of “how-to” make a good, short home movie, or a “point of demand” audio file (podcast).
On that, how to teach our children to discern a well-made video from a poor one (why).
I liked the “Little Strummers” booklet on basic guitar and hope to start my child (and I? and me?) this fall. Is there something like that for recorder/flute, keyboard, or percussion?
If the economy continues downward, maybe some hints to save money, a genuine economics lesson aimed at very young children, and how believers can help and serve neighbors (1001 project-ideas to serve others).
